When Lil Wayne was in his prime, he didn’t know what it meant to be rich. Now he knows he was right.
Lil Wayne is back on top.
The former king of the hip-hop world is back in the black and gold spotlight, with his first album to hit the charts in three weeks, and his third in four months.
The former superstar is currently in the studio with his manager, and the album is expected to arrive on March 18, 2018.
Lil Wayne is also set to open his first ever live show on March 21 in Brooklyn, New York.
It will be his first live show in over three years.
“It’s been a long road for me,” he told Rolling Stone.
“But this is the beginning.
I feel like I’ve been fighting a lot of demons for a long time.”
The album is a return to form for the 32-year-old rapper, who has struggled with addiction and mental health issues since leaving prison in 2003.
He was locked up after a string of gun crimes and attempted murders, including a murder in 2010 in which he was found dead in his jail cell.
He was freed in a deal that saw him pay $10 million in restitution and a $2.5 million fine.
This is his first major solo release since 2015’s The College Dropout.
But he has remained upbeat, telling the magazine that he is ready to start writing again and to get back into hip-hopping.
“I’m ready to get on the road again,” he said.
“I’ve got my next album, I got my fourth album, and I’ve got a lot more to come.
I’ve had a lot to do in my life.”
Lil Wayne, rapper, musician, entrepreneur, philanthropist, entrepreneur in business, and father of two, said he was moved to tears by the outpouring of support for him after the release of his last album, The Collegedropout.
“It was an emotional rollercoaster,” he explained.
“It was very hard for me to have to sit back and watch it happen.
It was hard to put my head in my hands and let it happen and not have any kind of comfort.
I felt like I had to get over it.
It’s been an incredibly challenging year.
But I have to tell you, it’s been the best year of my life.
I’m so proud of my family, and my wife and my daughter, and everyone that has supported me.”
Wayne, who was sentenced to prison in 2014 for gun and drug crimes, has been a champion for mental health.
His release from prison in 2018 saw him focus more on philanthropy, giving away more than $4 million to charity.
His wife, Mandy Moore, has also dedicated much of her career to mental health, launching the Lil Wayne Foundation in 2019 to focus on helping the most vulnerable members of society.
“When I started this foundation, I was a teenager who didn’t really know how to deal with my emotions and how to make decisions, or how to handle adversity,” she said.
In 2016, she was named one of Forbes 100 most powerful people in the world by the magazine, and has been named to its annual list of the 100 most influential people in America.
“Every single day, I’m just like, ‘What are you doing for me?’,” she explained.
“We’ve made this happen in a way that I’m proud of, but I don’t know how it would be without the support of so many people, who I can’t even describe in words, but who have stood by me through this journey.
I just want to say thank you to everyone.
It has been an amazing journey for me, and so many, many people.
I have so many amazing memories.”
