When it comes to baby rappers, there’s no denying that there are some really good ones out there.
But if you’re one of those lucky people who doesn’t live in one of the more glamorous countries in the world, you might be wondering: Which rapper, if any, are you?
We’re looking for those who are on the rise or at the top of their game.
We want to know whether the rapper is still getting the job done in a way that has some merit, and whether it’s still doing something that makes people think.
For our latest episode of The Ringer Podcast, we’re talking to the man behind the boom-or-bust baby boom: rapper Drake.
Drake is a rapper with a long and storied history, dating back to his days as the self-proclaimed “King of the Bands” and being one of hip-hop’s most influential artists.
While many people would argue that he’s been on the road for decades, he’s also been doing some things in-between, playing in venues like Coachella, playing with some of the biggest names in music like Lil Wayne and Dr Dre, and even writing a new album.
Drake’s been releasing music as far back as 2009, and his album, The Life of Pablo, is set to release on November 25.
But this past year has been his breakout, as his album Views: The Life also hit #1 on the Billboard 200 chart, and he’s since been working on his next album, Life of Art.
We’ve been watching his career closely since we started writing this podcast, and we’re happy to have him join us for an exclusive interview.
Drake on whether he has anything left to prove as a rapper: “I think I can talk about that.
I think I’m done.
I can’t be more than a rapper, man.
I don’t want to be a rapper anymore.”
Why did you decide to pursue a career in hip-hip music?
“I’ve always been interested in it.
I’ve always felt like a rapper was the only thing that could be a true representation of the people I wanted to represent.
I want to bring people together and connect with people who I think have really connected with me and are passionate about the same thing.”
What are your influences and what does it mean for you as a musician?
“My biggest influences are Lil Wayne, Dr Dre and Snoop Dogg.
I was a huge fan of both of them.
Snoop was the first artist I listened to, and I’ve never been the same since.”
How do you see your music changing in the future?
“When I think about the future, I’m more concerned with the present.
I’m not as focused on the past.
I look at the present as an opportunity to get into the future.
I also think about where I am now and what I’m striving for.
I have this ambition of becoming a rapper one day.”
What’s your favourite rap album and why?
“Probably ‘Life of Pablo’ because I’m so happy with the album.
I loved the way the songs felt.
I love the way Snoop did the drums, and how it feels like you’re in a room.
It’s such a unique experience.”
What do you think about Kanye West’s album Yeezus?
“The album is great.
I thought the way he came out with his first album was really cool.
He’s a great artist and I’m excited to see what he does next.
I like his music and his style.”
What is the best part of living in the US?
“Getting to see all the different styles.
I get to see how different styles of music are coming together in different places around the world.”
Do you think that people are more excited about hip-hopping now than ever before?
“Hip-hop is such a global thing.
The more people get into it, the more they will find it fun.
I feel like there’s a lot of interest in it, and the more people have an opportunity, it will continue to grow.”
What albums would you like to hear Drake work on next?
“That’s a tough one.
It sounds like I’m gonna say the next record I’d like to see is something from Lil Wayne.
The whole world would be stoked to hear more of the things he does, and that’s what I want.
It would be so cool to work with him.
I know he loves his music.”
What advice would you give to someone considering a career as a hip-hero?
“Don’t be afraid to try new things.
Don’t be scared to try something new that you’ve never done before.
I’d also say, don’t be a coward.
Try to be bold.
Try something that you’re passionate about.
Just because you can’t make money
