On one of the most memorable and influential albums of the last two decades, post-hardcore rapper Stitches is responsible for a lot of the iconic images of the decade, including a poster for his 1992 album Post Malone.
“My favorite album is Post Malone,” says the rapper, who’s currently touring the U.S. as the Post Malone of the East Coast.
“That was a really cool record, and a really important record for me.
That was my first release, and I just wanted to get that done.”
Post Malone is the name of the post-punk rapper who released the album in 1989.
After releasing the album, he went on to create the postmodern, postmodernist rap and hip-hop style of his own.
Post Malone was also known for his distinctive, signature hat, which featured a star-shaped brim, a hood, and gold lettering that became a signature of the artist.
“I wanted to do a hat that I could wear to every show,” Post Malone says.
“The hat is the symbol of the hat I wear every day, the hood, the star.
You wear it for the way you look at the world, for the message you send to the world.
The stars are for you.
You want to look good.
You’re not the only one.”
The Post Malone hat became the iconic symbol of post-internet hip-hoppiness, with its intricate embroidery and stylized stars.
“When I got the hat, I wanted to be known as a hat maker,” Post explains.
“In this era of technology, you can be a designer.
It’s a lot more accessible now.
You can go to a store, buy it, and be like, ‘I made it, I made it!’
That was the idea.
I was like, Let’s make a hat for people who are not famous.
Let’s do it for them to feel proud of themselves.
And I want people to wear it.”
The hat was a massive hit, and the star-filled brim became a staple of postmodern rap.
“Post Malone became one of my favorite albums of all time,” says Post Malone, who was the lead singer of Post Malone at the time.
“And I was really excited about it because of the hats.
I had the idea of putting a lot on the screen, and it turned out to be so cool.”
Post had a big influence on the post modern artists that would come to dominate hip-hops today.
“It’s the most influential record of all-time, and in a way it’s my greatest album,” Post says.
He also says that the hats and star-colored fabric helped shape post-postmodern hip-poetry, which is the type of music that Post and other artists like Lil Yachty have influenced.
“As soon as I saw the hat on the cover of Post and saw the star and the way the hat had that texture, I thought it would be great,” Post recalls.
“There’s so many ways that you can express yourself through a hat.
The hat is that expression.
I don’t think it’s necessarily a hat you wear on the street, but it’s something that people can use to express themselves.”
Post is known for making his own hats, so much so that he’s sold more than a million of them to date.
“All my hats are handmade by me,” he says.
Post has also collaborated with artists like Kendrick Lamar, Kanye West, and Lil Uzi Vert.
In fact, in the mid-2000s, he signed a deal with the legendary producer Jay-Z to produce an album of his compositions, Post Malone: The Blueprint.
That album, called The Blueprint, is one of Post’s most critically acclaimed albums to date, and has sold over 10 million copies worldwide.
“This album is one that everybody can relate to,” Post adds.
“Jay-Z has made a lot that we could relate to, and he helped me out.”
Post says he’s always had an affinity for the hats, even if he wasn’t a fan of the design at the beginning.
“After I got it, when I heard the stars and the lettering, I realized, I can do this,” he explains.
“[It’s] the most fun thing I’ve ever done.
I never thought it was gonna be that easy.
I’ve been obsessed with it since I was a little kid.
When I was about six years old, my mom gave me this hat.
I got this hat when I was 6 years old.
I loved it.”
He even started making hats for his mother, so when she died, he had to make a new hat for her.
The Post Malones are famous for the style of the clothing that they wear.
“They’re very comfortable,” Post admits.
“People think that the jackets that we wear are made from cotton and wool, but they’re
